Life with cancer can bring both emotional and physical stress but mindfulness can help. This 8-week, evidence-based Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program teaches practical skills to manage anxiety, improve focus, and cultivate a greater sense of calm in daily life. Led by Gina Sager, a retired, board-certified general surgeon, participants will learn how awareness and presence can transform the way we respond to life’s challenges both during and beyond cancer care.
The two-hour class is thoughtfully structured to maximize benefit and is divided into two parts: mindfulness practice followed by yoga nidra. Yoga nidra is a deeply restorative guided practice that supports relaxation, helps ease insomnia, and promotes more restful sleep—making this class especially helpful for those taking steroid medications or anyone who struggles with falling or staying asleep.
This class is open to all, and participants are encouraged to bring a plus one. Mindfulness is a valuable tool for anyone experiencing stress and can be practiced in everyday life.
Traditional MBSR is taught as an 8-week series, with each week introducing a new skill to support stress reduction and resilience. While attending all sessions offers the greatest benefit, full attendance is not required to register.
